Why You Should Go on Retreat
When choosing what to do with your time and money, decisions can be challenging. At Hallelujah Farm Retreat, we may be biased, but we believe that going on retreat is a valuable way for you to spend both. We host a wide variety of retreats and are confident there is something for everyone. Yoga, music, spirituality, writing, meditation, and so much more.
Despite the fact that you are interested in going on retreat, it can be difficult to justify spending a week or weekend away. Here are some reasons you should take the plunge.
Community
Surround yourself with like-minded people with whom you can carry on long lasting relationships.
Often times we become friendly with people simply based on circumstance. You see your co-workers for forty hours a week. You get to know the other parents at your daughter’s weekly karate class. You run into the same person at the coffee shop each morning. By chance, those people can become wonderful friends. But meeting people because of a common interest or belief and working alongside one another in focus on that commonality is an entirely different kind of bond. You have the unifying factors of interest and time well spent.
Focus
Give yourself adequate time to focus on and channel yours passions.
Out in the bigger world it is easy to say that you want to spend more time focusing on your writing, music, yoga, spiritual practice, etc. Without actually creating the space in your life to do that work, it’s even more of a challenge to make progress towards that goal. How often do we hear a friend say something like, “Starting next month, I’m going to wake up early each morning so I can …”? How often do we notice their struggle to move in that direction.
When on retreat, you are in a space where that is already the focus. After spending that week or weekend with that level of dedication, you will feel more motivated to carry that dedication into your daily life.
Relaxation
Recharge yourself and give yourself the time to focus on your passion will give you a quality sense of peace and relaxation.
Although you may do hard work while on retreat, that hard work should nourish your soul and give you a greater sense of relaxation. Accomplishing and focusing on your passions and goals quiets the mind and makes space for inner peace. Between those times of challenging work, being on retreat often creates space for you to focus on those quiet moments too. Focus on quiet and silence - the meditative element - can bring you to a more relaxed state.
Nature
Place yourself in calm of a natural space.
There is an abundance of research that supports the idea that being in nature has physical and mental health benefits.
